Scotty McCreery and Wife Gabi Can't Wait to Move in Together — Though Keeping the Place Clean May Be a 'Challenge'

Scotty McCreery is currently honeymooning with his wife Gabi Dugal in Bora Bora, but once the newlyweds are back from paradise they have something even more exciting to look forward to: moving in together.

“We haven’t moved in together yet so I’m living with my guys and she’s living with one of her best friends,” the American Idol winner told PEOPLE exclusively ahead of their wedding on Saturday in North Carolina. “I love my guys but it’ll be much nicer coming back from the road and seeing my wife instead of three motley dudes sitting on the couch!”

Country star Scotty McCreery and his girlfriend of six years Gabi Dugal tied the knot in the North Carolina mountains on Saturday in front of more than 200 of their loved ones, PEOPLE confirms exclusively.

“We’ve been dating six years and have known each other our whole lives. That kind of story doesn’t happen too often nowadays,” the American Idolalum — whose single “This Is It” details their love story and sweet proposal — told PEOPLE before the wedding. “I support her dreams and she supports mine.”

The ceremony, which was officiated by McCreery’s childhood pastor, followed a jam-packed weekend of activities, including a Cajun-style shrimp boil on Thursday night and a rehearsal dinner on Friday “up on the cliffs” of the couple’s wedding venue.

McCreery and Dugal — who wore an “elegant” bridal gown by Morilee for her big day — exchanged personalized wedding vows before heading to celebrate their new union with family and friends at their rollicking reception.

The newlyweds, both 24, shared their first dance to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” and their guests tucked into Cajun dishes (a nod to the bride’s Louisiana roots), steak and pasta. Instead of a traditional large wedding cake, the couple served an assortment of pies.

“I kept it very classic,” Dugal says about their black, white and gold color scheme and decor. “I went with greenery and white flowers, some lanterns and candle votives [for a] rustic feel. We fell in love with the mountains during the summertime [when Scotty proposed], and our [venue] is like a little castle in the woods.”

Adds her husband, whose dad Michael served as best man: “Very Beauty and the Beast!”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Earlier today, Triple Tigers recording artist Scotty McCreery was celebrating his hit single “Five More Minutes” topping both the Mediabase/Country Aircheck and Billboard Country Airplay charts at his first-ever No. 1 party when he was surprised with exciting news that the song had been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for combined units of streams and sales in excess of one million units. The party, which also honored his co-writers Frank Rogers and Monty Criswell, was hosted by both BMI and ASCAP, and held at the Country Music Association.

McCreery wrote “Five More Minutes” with Rogers and Criswell in 2015, just two weeks after the passing of his paternal grandfather who served as the inspiration for the song. The touching tune, which People Magazine calls “an emotional walk down memory lane,” also topped the Music Row Country Breakout Chart.  The intimate music video, featuring previously unseen home video footage from McCreery’s childhood, topped both the CMT Hot Country Countdown and the GAC Top Country Countdown for multiple weeks. “Five More Minutes” takes on classic country music storytelling from a refreshing perspective, reminding listeners to slow down and cherish both monumental and small moments in life.
 
McCreery recently released the heartwarming and romantic “This Is It” as the second single from his chart-topping, reflective album Seasons Change. He wrote the song with Rogers and Aaron Eshuis two weeks before proposing to his longtime girlfriend, Gabi Dugal at their favorite location in the scenic mountains of North Carolina. The song shares his proposal plans in specific detail. The couple, who have dated for six years and have known each other since kindergarten, will be married this summer.

Triple Tigers recording artist Scotty McCreery performed his No. 1 Gold (soon to be Platinum)-certified hit “Five More Minutes” today on the syndicated daytime television series “Harry” (May 17).  While on the show, McCreery talked with host Harry Connick Jr. about his upcoming wedding plans to fiancé Gabi Dugal.

McCreery recently released his new single “This is It,” which details how he proposed to Dugal in the North Carolina mountains. The couple will be married later this summer.  “This is It” is the second song from McCreery’s new album Seasons Change, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart when it was released in March.
