Scotty McCreery, 'Seasons Change'

In 2016, things were looking bleak for onetime American Idol champion Scotty McCreery: after his single "Southern Belle" failed to make waves at radio, he was dropped by his record label and found himself, in his early twenties, having to figure out how to navigate the next phase of his professional life alone. Thankfully, he still had a lot to meditate on, including the surprise hit "Five More Minutes" that revitalized his career and showcased a tender new direction – and his artistic control. Soon after, McCreery signed with Triple Tigers and released Seasons Change, a playful and poignant testament to the power of holding your ground and falling in love. M.M.

Singer/songwriter Scotty McCreery, once named “Country Music’s Hottest Bachelor,” is now a married man. To celebrate, he’s sharing the brand new lyric video for his current single, “This Is It,” tomorrow, Thursday, June 21, at 12:00 PM ET (11:00 AM CT) on his Facebook page and Twitter feed. The heartfelt song is a blueprint of McCreery’s marriage proposal to Gabi Dugal, his high school sweetheart and now, wife. The “This Is It” lyric video visually transports viewers to the scenic mountains of North Carolina, where he popped the once-in-a-lifetime question – using artistic visuals to bring the lyrics written by McCreery, Frank Rogers and Aaron Eshuis to life. A special sneak preview of the lyric video will be posted today on his socials at 12:00 PM ET (11:00 AM CT).

The couple who met in kindergarten in Garner, North Carolina and began dating during their senior year in high school, were married Saturday, June 16, in the mountains of their home state in front of their family and friends – the exact setting the song details. PEOPLE shared an exclusive photo from McCreery’s wedding festivities online just minutes after he and his new wife exchanged vows. Fans can see more pictures from the celebration when PEOPLE Magazine hits stands tomorrow. The stunning photos of the bride and groom were taken by Krista Stevens and Amber Beasley of Six Foot Photography.

“This Is It” is one of several songs on McCreery’s current album Seasons Changethat was inspired by his new bride. He co-wrote all 11 songs on the album which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart, selling more than 40,000 units in its first week when it was released in March.

The lyric video was created and produced by McCreery’s label, Triple Tigers Records.

Scotty McCreery is currently honeymooning with his wife Gabi Dugal in Bora Bora, but once the newlyweds are back from paradise they have something even more exciting to look forward to: moving in together.

“We haven’t moved in together yet so I’m living with my guys and she’s living with one of her best friends,” the American Idol winner told PEOPLE exclusively ahead of their wedding on Saturday in North Carolina. “I love my guys but it’ll be much nicer coming back from the road and seeing my wife instead of three motley dudes sitting on the couch!”

Though the couple, both 24, first met in kindergarten, they didn’t start dating until six years ago. Read more

Country star Scotty McCreery and his girlfriend of six years Gabi Dugal tied the knot in the North Carolina mountains on Saturday in front of more than 200 of their loved ones, PEOPLE confirms exclusively.

“We’ve been dating six years and have known each other our whole lives. That kind of story doesn’t happen too often nowadays,” the American Idolalum — whose single “This Is It” details their love story and sweet proposal — told PEOPLE before the wedding. “I support her dreams and she supports mine.”

The ceremony, which was officiated by McCreery’s childhood pastor, followed a jam-packed weekend of activities, including a Cajun-style shrimp boil on Thursday night and a rehearsal dinner on Friday “up on the cliffs” of the couple’s wedding venue.

McCreery and Dugal — who wore an “elegant” bridal gown by Morilee for her big day — exchanged personalized wedding vows before heading to celebrate their new union with family and friends at their rollicking reception.

The newlyweds, both 24, shared their first dance to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” and their guests tucked into Cajun dishes (a nod to the bride’s Louisiana roots), steak and pasta. Instead of a traditional large wedding cake, the couple served an assortment of pies.

“I kept it very classic,” Dugal says about their black, white and gold color scheme and decor. “I went with greenery and white flowers, some lanterns and candle votives [for a] rustic feel. We fell in love with the mountains during the summertime [when Scotty proposed], and our [venue] is like a little castle in the woods.”

Adds her husband, whose dad Michael served as best man: “Very Beauty and the Beast!”

We just confirmed another Scotty performance for June 10 at CMA Music Fest!

Scotty will perform (full band) from 10:30 PM – Midnight
